Happy 2011

As we all usher in the new year, we welcome with it new challenges that will encompass our life. But as I face these new challenges, I am reminded of old ones. And as the hands of time slowly tick away. I am once more reminded that I have barely 3 months to prepare for a damn examination that they say "is the measurement of your capabilities as a professional anesthetist." Of course, I don't believe in that crap. It's all horse-shit if u ask me. One of my mentors used to say that the board exam is nothing but an in-training exam made more difficult. Now I ask you, why should it be more difficult? Shouldn't it be that the in-training exam for a graduating senior be the measurement of his/her (in today's politically incorrect world, one must not be a chauvinist even in one's own literary works) success/failure? Why should there be such exams? Of course the politically incorrect world and the powers that be would have you believe in all that crap about safeguarding the profession from those who are not qualified to practice. In the first place, why should those not qualified be allowed to graduate from training? Does this mean that they are not confident of the kind of training that the various centers have? Who is it whose supposed to be responsible for overseeing the training programs of these various centers? Isn't it they themselves, the almighty examiners are the ones who oversee and accredit these programs? So when the programs fail, is it the fault of the trainees, the mentors of these trainees, or the examiners who appraised and approved the training programs? We could go all day and point fingers but the bottom line is this: if you approved a training program, then in heaven's name, stand by it and do not cast a shadow of doubt on it or its products! If you do so, then you are in a way saying that you have dropped the ball and that you have fucked up big time with your job. But of course that is if this was a politically correct world. However, the world is neither perfect nor politically correct. And in this politically incorrect world, there must be a series of exam. Not to see who can piss farther... but simply so that they can have a weekend getaway together on someone else's tab. A pat on their own back once or twice a year to remind themselves that they have done a job that needs not to be done. Its all very profitable really. Some of you may think that I am just merely avoiding to take the exam. Well, I know I will not avoid it and I will not hesitate to take it. Whether or not I like it, is a whole different story. With that in mind, I am reminded of a problem. I hate studying! Books and me don't fucking go well together. I tend to doze off before the 2nd paragraph of whatever it is I am reading. And I tend to think unconventionally. Most people see this problem and their solution is to read and read and read some more and pray and hope for the best. I am unconventional. My idea is this. Identify the problem/s. 1st step, what's the problem? - the difficulty of the exam. 2nd step, who/what makes it difficult? - some of the examiners tend to make exceptionally difficult questions. 3rd step, identify these examiners... 4th step, eliminate these examiners (read: terminate, with extreme prejudice). Problem solved! Oh hey, Mr. Bad Karma, what if they are reading this shit? Then they should consider themselves warned!
